2014 Term 3 Team Toru Newsletter
Welcome back to Term 3, 2014. We trust that everyone has had a wonderful holiday and ready for the exciting challenges and events that are happening in Term 3. There are many wonderful opportunities for students this term so it is important to keep up to date by reading the school newsletter and noting dates on the school calendar. Already we have had a fantastic trip to the ASB Stadium to take part in Futsal, Floorball, Volleyball and Handball.

TERM THREE TEAM TORU TRIPS
- NGA MANU - SCIENCE TRIP
Team Toru is visiting Nga Manu -Waikanae (www.ngamanu.co.nz) on Tuesday 19 August. We will be travelling by bus and will be leaving St Brigid's School at 9am and returning approximately by 2.30pm. We will be at Nga Manu from 10am till 1pm. There will be conservation talk by the Rangers while we are there. We will also be doing art and activities relating to education outside of the classroom.
We still do need help for the day so if you are able to join us please talk to your child's teacher.
Gear needed for trip:
Warm, sensible mufti - Sensible walking shoes
- Warm jacket/jersey/polar fleece
- Waterproof raincoat
- Woolly hat/Sun hat
- Lunch/Drink
- Plastic bags
- Pencil Case
ROAD PATROL MARCH - YEAR 7/8 STUDENTS
This event is happening on Friday 1 August. Students are to meet in Room 13 at 8.45am and be dressed in bright clothing and have a warm, waterproof raincoat. We will catch the 9am train into town and meet at Parliament steps with all other schools in the Wellington region. We will march down Lambton Quay and then meet at the Town Hall for a concert. After the concert the students will be given a snack and then we will catch the 1pm train back to Johnsonville.

On Wednesday 20 August Team Toru will have a visit by a Dog Safety Officer, Vicky who will share with students information about Dog Safety. Year 5/6 students will be at 9.30am in Room 11 and Year 7/8 students will be at 11 till 12 noon in Room 12. This is an excellent opportunity for students to learn safe skills when around dogs.

Team Toru is taking part in gymnastics at Nairnville Recreation Centre this term. These visits are happening on Tuesdays - 26 August, 2nd, 9th and 16th September.The order for attending these sessions will be

SUNNY SPORTS EVENT
On Wednesday 30 July Team Toru will be taking part in a different sports at Alex Moore Park (weather dependent). We are endeavouring to put into place all the skills that we have been focusing on into a game situation. Students are required to wear correct PE uniform and sporting shoes. This event will also take place on Wednesday 24 September.

TECHNOLOGY - YEAR 7/8
Year 7/8 students will continue to go to Technology weekly. Room 12 students attend on Thursday afternoon and Room 13 attend on Friday morning. There will be no technology for students in Week 2 - 1 August due to the Road Patrol March and also there is no technology in Week 9 as Newlands Intermediate have other schools visiting.
