On Wednesday, 17 February, Sarah Downs and Gabrielle Barnett-Bates left for Mt Maunganui to attend the Surf Lifesaving Nationals otherwise known as ‘Oceans’.
They were competing from Thursday through to Sunday, in 13 events including sprints, swims, boards, as well as combinations of these. They needed to arrive at the beach before 7 every morning, and competition would finish at 5pm so they were ‘full on’ days. The surf was impressive and competition was fierce.
Both Sarah and Gabbie were pleased with their efforts during the week and we are proud of them too. Congratulations on a fabulous effort!
